Angel Island-San Francisco Bay

Ayala Cove at Angel Island in the San Francisco Bay

Out of all of my trips to San Francisco and even living there for two years, I have always wanted to go to Angel Island. It is mostly abandoned. I finally made the trek and took some shots. Its interesting that it was once a fort, then an immigration station, and a quarantine station. It is considered the Ellis Island of the west. Prisoners were housed here also during  WWII: Japanese and German POWs.  If you go: At the ferry building in San Francisco  you will see where to buy tickets. There are cafes on the island, and an ATM machine.
